Exorcise Narcissist in Your Mind (EXCERPT Lecture in University of Applied Sciences, Elbląg, Poland)
Prof. Sam Vaknin
Recovering from narcissistic abuse requires navigating complex, multi-layered grief stemming from the dissolution of the "shared fantasy," where the victim mourns the loss of both a child and a mother figure. Narcissists exploit "entrainment"—using repetitive, hypnotic communication—to install a hostile "introject" that functions like a Trojan horse, sabotaging the victim from within. Effective healing demands a ninefold path that prioritizes somatic regulation, authentic internal dialogue, and functional autonomy. By dismantling this internalized parasite and rejecting a victimhood identity, individuals can restore their reality testing and capacity for self-love. True recovery is evidenced by the disappearance of disparaging internal voices, the cessation of self-sacrificial behaviors, and the ability to trust oneself and others without reverting to past patterns of codependency or infantile neediness.
