The "Greeking Out" podcast presents an adaptation of the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, beginning with the rivalry between King Minos and his brothers, and Minos's subsequent conflict with Poseidon, which leads to the birth of the Minotaur. To contain the monster, Minos has Daedalus build the Labyrinth. Later, the death of Minos's son in Athens leads to a demand for Athenian tributes to be sacrificed to the Minotaur. Theseus volunteers to face the Minotaur, receives help from Princess Ariadne, and ultimately slays the beast, but abandons Ariadne on Naxos. Due to this, Theseus forgets to change his ship's sails, leading his father, King Aegeus, to believe Theseus is dead and to throw himself into the sea, which is then named the Aegean Sea. The podcast includes humorous interjections, factual tidbits related to the story, and a mid-episode advertisement for a related book series.
