Season 12 of Nat Geo Kids' Greeking Out podcast launches on YouTube, featuring original adaptations of Greek myths. This week's story is about Atalanta, a warrior princess whose father abandons her because she is not a son. Raised by a bear thanks to Artemis, Atalanta becomes a skilled hunter. She joins a boar hunt organized by King Aeneas' son, Melieager, impressing everyone with her skills. Melieager awards her the boar's hide, angering his uncles, whom he kills, leading to his own death when his mother burns the log tied to his life. Atalanta seeks guidance from an oracle, who warns her against marriage. She joins Jason on the Argo and later reconciles with her father, a king who wants her to marry. She proposes a foot race for her suitors, and Hippomenes wins with the help of Aphrodite's golden apples. They marry but offend Aphrodite, who curses them, and Zeus transforms them into lions.
